REC4SMEs – Renewable Energy Communities for SMEs

REC4SMEs is a European project funded by the European Union’s Single Market Programme (SMP). It supports the creation and development of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the agri-food and retail sectors. The project aims to accelerate the energy transition of businesses, reduce energy costs, and strengthen economic resilience by promoting collaborative models for the production and sharing of renewable energy.

The REC4SMEs project aims to promote the adoption of sustainable energy solutions among SMEs by supporting the creation of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs).

The main objectives include:

-Promoting sustainable and collaborative energy solutions among businesses
-Supporting the creation of 12 Renewable Energy Communities (RECs), including 3 in Italy
-Strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of SMEs by reducing energy costs
-Supporting the energy transition by increasing awareness of the benefits of energy communities

The project primarily targets:

-SMEs in the agri-food and retail sectors

It also involves:

-other SMEs interested in sustainable energy solution
-business associations and clusters
-incubators and business support organizations
-local and regional authorities
-energy experts and technical consultants
-financial institutions interested in the energy transition

The project includes a series of activities designed to support SMEs in the development and implementation of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs).

Key activities include:

-creating a network of stakeholders involved in the project
-organizing awareness and information activities about energy communities
-hosting dissemination events and discussion forums
-producing informational materials and practical guides
-collecting and sharing best practices
-developing tools and operational support for the creation of RECs
