  • Project Management

The Consortium for Economic Development of the Friuli Area (COSEF) manages the Alto Friuli (AF) industrial zone in Rivoli di Osoppo, a strategic area connected to the national railway network through a dedicated rail siding. Railway operations represent a critical operational asset, requiring modern, reliable, and integrated management tools.

In response to this need, we developed an automated system for detecting and counting rail wagons in transit to and from the siding, integrated with a centralized digital platform for data collection, processing, and reporting.

The solution enables COSEF to monitor all rail movements in the area in real time, transforming raw transit data into structured and immediately accessible information. Each event is recorded, classified, and made available for cross-analysis over time, providing a complete historical view of rail traffic flows.

Key platform functionalities include the automatic generation of monthly reports with aggregated transit data, immediate notifications in case of critical events or anomalies detected along the siding, and the ability to intervene promptly through an integrated alert system.

The result is full and continuous operational control, reducing reporting errors, optimizing resource management, and ensuring traceability of every rail movement. The platform is part of COSEF’s broader digitalization strategy aimed at transforming the AF area into an efficient, connected, and competitive industrial hub at both regional and national level.
