Waterfront of the city of Constanța
Client: Administratia Bazinala de Apa Dobrogea Litoral
Services in this project:
- Works Supervision
The Romanian coast along the Black Sea is subject to erosion processes that not only cause the loss of particularly valuable land but also affect coastal ecosystems, creating economic and social damage to the entire area.
The Administratia Bazinala de Apa Dobrogea Litoral (Dobrogea Seaside Water Basin Administration), linked to the Romanian Waters National Administration (RWNA), has therefore developed the Masterplan 'Protection and Restoration of the Coastal Area' to contain these processes.
Within the Reduction Of Coastal Erosion Phase II (2014-2020) the area of intervention was divided into 11 lots, for a total development of over 30 km of coastline.
The aim of this intervention is to protect and restore the coastal area of the city of Constanța and its environmental components, by means of engineering works that contrast the erosion process, supporting the relaunch of the marine ecosystem and the reintegration of some species lost by the ecosystem, and protecting marine biodiversity and the coastline.
The project is financially supported by the European Union Cohesion Fund - Large Infrastructure Operational Program (LIOP) 2014-2020.
S.J.S. Engineering is involved in the Project Management of the project (Resident Engineer, Yellow FIDIC Contract) and provides technical support to the Client in the supervision of the design phases for each of the 11 lots of the intervention.
